When becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah, a child is asked to do a “Mitzvah Project,” which is a larger project to give back to the community in which they have grown up.
Since the beginning of this school year, Dinah and her classmate Olivia have been working with their band director, Mr. Nick Novy, to raise money for the band program. In December, Dinah and Olivia organized a donations-based bake sale in conjunction with the winter band concert. They plan to have one or more concert bake sales before the school year ends. Dinah hopes to continue this effort during her eighth-grade year! Funds raised through their effort have gone directly to repairing broken instruments, allowing students to borrow an instrument from the school when their families cannot afford to rent or buy. Instrument repairs range from $50-$250/instrument.
